A Tribute To The Rock

It with much sorrow, that we must announce the untimely death of the The Rock. Known as Rocky, at home he sadly passed away, peacefully on 22nd December after a short illness aged just 16.
He had a great show jumping career with too many fantastic results to mention, but special mentions should go to a few of them.
One the most admirable of which was his memorable performance when he competed with Richard in the under 18 young rider European team trials at Wales and West in 2005 when Richard was just 15. He put in some fantastic rounds but the highlight of which was the stunning second round in the 2nd round of the nation’s cup class, which, brought him great attention from in the young rider circles.
Also, we should say, before Richard he started his career with Caroline Barnes, who also had great number of results, including qualify for the winter novice qualifier and he also completed all 3 rounds of foxhunter second round with her.
Sadly before Rocky and Richard could build on their success with their very realistic aims of getting an under 21 team place, Rocky’s career was cruelly cut short through injury.
He stayed with Richard all through his retirement, mainly acting as “nanny” to Richards’s younger horses and going for occasional rides.
A very emotional Richard said “ He was a once in a life time horse, he was so talented yet so kind and I can’t even begin to tell you how much he taught me and about the wonderful experiences we had together. He will be very sorely missed by all of us; I still struggle to believe he is no longer here”
Our thoughts are with Richard and all his family at this sad time and if you have any comets about The Rock you would like us to make please get in touch.

Field House Monday 2nd January

On Monday 2nd January 2012, Vaskaria and Miss Cavalier Lady competed at Field House Equestrian Centre
Miss Cavalier Lady jumped a fantastic Double Clear in the newcomer’s class and finished very good 4th place.
Vaskaria jumped a fantastic clear in the first round on the Foxhunter class, and had very unfortunate fence down in the jump off, after a very tight turn back to spread fence. She put in very good performance and, in spite of the very high quality field, she posted the fastest time of the class by 3 seconds and finished an eventual 3rd place.
A delighted Richard Commented “They both jumped really well and I was proud of their efforts. Vaskaria was very unlucky in the jump off, but I couldn’t have asked any more the effort she put in and I am looking forward to the rest of the year”

Zonnekoning II At Scope

On Thursday 1st September 2011 Zonnekoning II jumped the first preliminary qualifier for the final in the Adventurer class. 1st to go out of 210 starters, he put a valiant effort and very quick time in the second phase, but sadly an unfortunate rail down, proved to be very dear. However in he still finished in an incredible 26th place with the 2nd fastest 4 faults. A clear, with the same time would have resulted in 5th place and qualification for the final
Sadly on Friday 2nd September 2011, an unfortunate rail down, prevented Zonnekoning from having a another go at qualifying for the final
However on Saturday 3rd September 2011, he competed in the consolation class and jumped a superb double clear to claim 15th place out of approximately 180 starters.
A brilliant performance.
A delighted Richard commented “ he has jumped very well this week, he has tried so hard, we were very unfortunate not to qualify for the final, but I am delighted with the way he has jumped and the effort he has put in. Also the placing’s he has achieved”
